I've always been a half empty kind of woman. Sometimes I try to embrace it the best I can, but I could certainly be better at it. Probably not as good as all that, even if it is a lovely way to look at it all.

I had a daughter.

Not all aspects of our lives are lovely so I find holding onto the points that are can help.

Had. I'm terribly sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how difficult that would be.

It's even more impressive you can have that outlook.

It's made all the more difficult in that I didn't get to watch her grow up at all, I had to leave her when she was a baby.

Must be the poet in me.

If you'd rather not talk about it, feel free to tell me to shut up. Heaven knows I do it enough to Wade. But why did you have to leave her?

It's okay, it's actually nice to talk to someone about it.

There were people after me and it would have put her in danger.

You don't think you could have protected her from them? Or was it more not wanting her to be a part of a life of running from danger?

At the time that's what I thought I was doing. I also didn't want her to grow up on the run, I wanted her to have a stable happy life.

Best of intentions. Was it at least stable and happy for a time?

From what I've been told yes, it was.
I was also told that she never forgave me for abandoning her.

That seems unfair for someone to have told you. It's not easy to live with that kind of weight on top of loss.

It's a weight of my own creation.

Funny how the best of intentions can leave so many of those. For what it's worth I'm sorry still.
